Parks Inner Child Therapy (PICT) concentrates on the effects of the trauma, rather than focusing on the detail of the event. Its gentle approach to serious matters is delivered without the need for clients to disclose any traumatic content. This is ideal for those who have experienced painful experiences such as trauma or childhood abuse as privacy and dignity is maintained.
Beliefs about ourselves, learnt in our childhood years, can hold us back in later life. Many emotional concerns and unwanted behaviours are formed by ‘Mistaken Beliefs’, negative information that was given to us during childhood, either intentionally or unintentionally. Often, we are not aware that the Mistaken Belief is there but unhelpful internal messages such as ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I’m unlovable’ hold us back, preventing us from overcoming obstacles.
PICT is designed to obtain thorough understanding and resolution of problems. Using powerful and versatile visualisation-based techniques, it brings together a number of different therapeutic approaches to work quickly, to create deep and lasting change.
Working with both the conscious and unconscious mind, it allows problems and feelings to be resolved and problem behaviours and Mistaken Beliefs to be removed. This allows the moving forward process – with its useful and positive behaviours and a confident outlook to take place.
